- Arduino
- Laptop or desktop computer, external display recommended
- Breadboard
- Jumper wires
- 4 4.7k resistors
- 4 5mm screw terminals
Hardware supplies
Wood base
The size of the wood should be 28x28"
, with a thickness of 3/4"
. Four pieces of 14x14"
wood can be used instead of one large piece. For the type of wood, sande plywood has been the most durable so far, and oak has also been recommended.
Metal plates
Four 12x12"
metal plates 1/8"
thick for the platform contact plates
Wire
20 - 30' of 16 AWG wire to connect the metal plates to the Arduino
Platform fasteners
- 68 Flat-head sheet metal screws #12 7/8" for drilling the metal into the wood platform
- 4 #12 washers for clamping the wire to the metal plates
- 8 Flat metal brackets with 5/8" screws for bracketing the four wood pieces together
Non-slip padding
It is recommended to place non-slip rug padding underneath the platform, optionally taped to the bottom.
- Non-slip floor padding recommended for keeping the platform from sliding
- Carpet tape recommended for attaching the non-slip floor padding
Skateboard deck
- Standard skateboard deck
- 2 metal rings for the board's contact plates
- 6 #12-24 x 5/8" flat head machine screws for attaching the metal rings
- 6 #12-24 nuts for attaching the metal rings
- A thin metal strip to connect the contact plates to each other
- 10 #8-1/2" sheet metal screws for attaching the metal strip to the board
Tools
- Drill with
7/64"
and1/4"
bits, a Phillips head bit, and either a1/2"
countersink bit or23/64"
bit - Hammer for flattening the metal rings
- Screwdriver for tightening the metal rings
- Pliers for holding the metal ring nuts in place
- Straight edge and pencil
- Measuring tape
- WD-40 recommended for drilling into metal
- Wire strippers recommended
- Sandpaper recommended
